Launching Fall 2026
The AI Ambassador Program is a new experiential learning opportunity that connects students with the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence while helping university departments explore practical, high-impact uses of AI. Open to undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and disciplines, the program is designed to develop AI literacy, strengthen career-ready skills, and provide meaningful, real-world experience applying emerging technologies in higher education.
Selected students will complete a structured training program focused on Microsoft Copilot, responsible AI, prompt engineering, business process improvement, and AI solution development. Following their training, AI Ambassadors will be paired with participating university departments to work on a real business challenge or opportunity. Departments will have the opportunity to apply to host an AI Ambassador by identifying a process, workflow, or operational challenge where AI has the potential to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, enhance productivity, or create a better customer or employee experience. Throughout the engagement, students will collaborate with departmental staff to understand the problem, identify AI-enabled solutions, develop prototypes or recommendations, and share outcomes that can inform broader AI adoption across the university.
The program creates meaningful value for everyone involved—students gain hands-on experience applying AI in a professional environment while building highly sought-after career skills, and departments receive dedicated support to explore innovative solutions that advance operational excellence and responsible AI adoption at George Mason University.
